Centre description:
Metro is the only Outward Bound operation that is based in an urban environment. It is a non-residential urban centre based in the south of Glasgow that works closely with young people and teachers in schools across Strathclyde and runs urban-based projects promoting youth development for the good of the community. The centre delivers three main types of programmes.
First Step courses - offer non-residential programmes for young people that may lack the emotional confidence and social competence to participate in a residential or for whom a centre based residential would not be appropriate. Often these programmes are over a period of months as the participants benefit from a longer-term approach to their personal development.
The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award - is a six-month leadership programme for 16 & 17 year olds, which involves a 5-day residential experience at our Loch Eil centre to give the participants the skills, experience and confidence to organise and deliver a project in their local community. Currently 200 young people from over 60 schools participate in this programme and 30 community projects are delivered annually.
Bespoke residential courses - are delivered away from Outward Bound's main residential centres where the outcomes for young people can be more tailored to specific needs.
